About our monthly meetings

Meeting information:

You are invited to attend one of our meetings. The meetings are for everyone with an interest in computers. This includes beginners through experienced users; anyone who wants to learn more and/or share their knowledge. As a visitor, you are welcome to attend a meeting as our guest. We invite you to join in both the general discussions and the Educational Workshops - Special Interest Groups (SIGs).

The meeting will begin with a presentation by a Guest Speaker. Each month, we have a different speaker who covers topics on hardware, software, and other computer-related subjects. We have even had a live Build Your Own Computer and How to Upgrade Your Computer meetings using video projected on our big screen so everyone has a front row seat.

After the speaker, there are usually drawings held for products donated by the Speaker. (You become eligible for these drawings when you become a Member.)

Following the presentation and drawings, you are invited to attend one of our workshops, also knows as Special interest Groups or SIGs, meetings to get more in-depth information and have your questions answered on that specific topic. Click on the SIG button on the navigation bar on the left for information on The SIGs.

I invite you to visit us. I trust you'll leave with a little more PC knowledge than you had before visiting us. If you would like to join PCUGSJ, you can download an application from this web site or stop at the New Member table and someone will be glad to help you sign up.

And as always, See you there and BRING A FRIEND!!!!

NOTE, All Dates and Speakers are subject to change. Be sure to check out the latest information on this site frequently

Don't forget that we meet in the Witherspoon Building at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Rt. 70 Cherry Hill, NJ. (just west of I 295)

Here is some history of the PC Users Group of South Jersey ( PCUGSJ )

The PCUGSJ was formally founded in 1985. Most of the first members were also members of the Jersey Atari Computer Society ( JACS ) who were forming a special interest group to look at the new IBM brand of computers and its clones.

We originally met in what is now the Mary Kay House in Haddonfield. As the group grew, we moved to the (old) Cherry Hill Library and when those facilities were too small, we moved again to Holly Cross High School on Rt.130 in Delran NJ. Because of scheduling conflicts with the school, we were forced to move to Queen of Heaven Church School on Rt. 70 in Cherry Hill. We left there when they got a new Monsignor, who wanted to get the outside groups out of the church to make his scheduling easier. Our next stop was Cherry Hill High School East, but scheduling conflicts forced yet another move to our current location The Witherspoon Building @ Trinity Presbyterian Church. This is located on the eastbound side of Rt. 70, approximately 1 mile West of exit 34B of Interstate 295. Meetings are held at 7:00PM the 2nd Monday of the Month. Directions are here.

Pat Murphy, who stayed on as our leader until 1995, when he was forced to step down due to business and health problems, originally organized the club. Paul Maguire followed, who ran the club until 2005. A change of jobs forced him to resign because he was not be able to make the meetings. Paul was working at CompUSA, which gave the club valuable contacts to recruit speakers for our meetings. He remains active behind the scenes.

There is more information coming soon as the club changes it's web site.

Please check this web site, sometime this summer as the entire www.pcugsj.org site will be rebuilt and have a new home here. To avoid confusion 7 possible acronyms of Technology Users Group have been taken into account. If you visit any site with these names you will be directed to the web site you are currently seeing. They are:
1. New Jersey Technology Users Group - njtug.com / njtug.org
2. Technology Users Group of New Jersey - tugnj.org
3. Technology Users Group of South Jersey - tugsj.com / tugsj.org
And to avoid further confusion about our acronym the "of" is out and name is switched around. The new name of the club will be South Jersey Technology Users Group ( SJTUG ) sjtug.com / sjtug.org
